Food Tour FAQs

What should I expect on a food tour?

Expect a combination of food, fun, adventure and learning. Expect an even-paced series of stops at restaurants and points of interest within a 3-5-block area over a three hour period of time. Expect multiple chef’s choice small plates to be served over the course of the afternoon or evening.

How long will we be in each restaurant?

We will be in each restaurant an average of 25 minutes.

What is included in the ticket price?

Enough combined tastings to replace a meal, a knowledgeable tour guide, transportation during the tour when applicable, taxes, restaurant staff gratuity and on most tours, a take-home goodie bag. Tour Guide gratuity is not included, and is always appreciated.

What is NOT included in the ticket price?

If you would like a beverage other than water or stated beverage while at a restaurant, you may order and pay for it at the time of service. Also, Guide gratuity is not included in the ticket price and is always appreciated.

What is the Wooster Food Tours cancellation policy?

Within 48 hours of a tour, tickets are non-refundable. For transfers or refunds outside that window, contact Wooster Food Tours.

What is the difference between a tour and an event?

A tour is a series of stops at several restaurants and points of interest. An event is based upon one particular theme or chef or restaurant. An event is typically held at a single location.

What if there is inclement weather?

Tours will be held rain, shine, or snow. Check the weather forecast and bring appropriate accessories or outerwear.

How should I dress, and what should I bring with me?

Wear comfortable clothing and footwear. Check the weather. Need scarf, hat, gloves? Instead of a big bulky purse, condense cash and conveniences into a smaller “tour friendly” version. Don’t forget a camera! Many fun photo opportunities along the way!

I have food allergies / preferences. Can you accommodate me on the tour?

Gluten-free / Vegetarian / and other requests are easily accommodated if known in advance. Be sure to indicate specific dietary concerns during the checkout process when you’re purchasing your tickets or contact us ahead of time. Do not wait until a plate is put in front of you to voice your preferences or allergies. At that point, we do our best but cannot guarantee on-the-spot accommodations.

Is this a “progressive” meal?

Not exactly. Since it’s primarily a walking tour, the route dictates the order of samples. However, we try to make sure desserts or sweets are towards the end.

How much walking is involved?

It is estimated that a little over a third of the tour consists of walking or standing.

Should I tip our tour guide?

If you are happy with your tour, tipping your guide is greatly appreciated. Standard gratuity for the service industry is 15%.

Will alcohol be served on the tour?

Evening tours include an alcoholic beverage as a sample for those of age. Non-alcoholic alternatives are available. Additional beverages outside those served as part of a tour may be purchased.

Can I shop on the tour?

Sure! Because restaurants expect us at a certain time, it’s important we keep on schedule, but there’s always time for a little shopping!

How much food is served on the tour?

The combined samples are intended to be enough to replace a meal, and satisfy most. Look at photos on this website to get an idea of quantity.

Are tours wheelchair accessible?

We will be moving in and out of buildings, up and down stairs, and through historical corridors that are not suited for wheelchairs or those that have trouble walking.

What if I am late for a tour?

Tours start promptly at the scheduled time but are designed with the first couple stops very close to the meeting point, so that if you run late you can easily catch up without stressing out. Just give us a quick call and we’ll help you find us!

Can I create a private tour for a group of friends, family or colleagues?

Absolutely! Private tours are popular and easy to put together. Please visit our Create Your Own Tour page.
